Whisper: Keep Girls in School – Menstruation not a reason to quit school
Lack of Menstrual hygiene is a big issue around the globe. It is more prevalent in India, where menstruating women are considered unholy and are often mistreated. Menstruating women need to get a Period education and know a lot better about menstrual hygiene, which sadly not many people care about. ‘Whisper’ the feminine care brand, a prime manufacturer of women sanitary pads in India and UNESCO, have launched a campaign Keep Girls in School, where with every pack of their three products, namely, ‘Whisper Ultra Care,’ ‘Whisper ultra-soft air fresh,’ and ‘Whisper Bindazz Nights’ bought between 10th February 2021 and 15th March 2021 would get Period education and menstrual hygiene to 1 girl.
The astonishing figures show that in India alone, more than 2.3 crore girls drop out of school at attaining puberty and due to the lack of menstrual hygiene and period education. The ad, filmed by Leo Burnett, claims that this campaign brings awareness to the life of 1 girl out of every five dropping out of school, which whisper aims to double by 2022.
Lack of menstrual hygiene and period education should not be why girls are dropping out of school. Whisper has brought a critical issue to light by its campaign.
