Near Miss Memorials – Campaign by KiwiRail & Tracksafe to reduce Level Crossing Accidents

KiwiRail, along with Tracksafe NZ, launched the Near Miss Memorials campaign at the parliament of New Zealand during Rail safety week. The campaign is being run with the help of DDB. There is an astonishingly high number of near misses happening with train drivers at level crossings due to car drivers and pedestrians’ carelessness. Many times these incidents turn out to be Fatal.
 

 
Half Crosses are being installed at all the level crossings where near misses have occurred. The crosses are provided with a QR, which everyone can scan to see videos of real Near miss incidents that happened at that particular place. Those who cannot view these half crosses can visit the nearmisses.co.nz website to watch the same videos with an interactive 3d rail journey.
 

 
This campaign acts as an eye-opening visual for New Zealand residents to be careful while crossing level crossings, highlighting the importance of their life and the train drivers’ problems.
