Love has yet again conquered all and India is celebrating this paradigm shift – Section 377
Love conquers all! There is no greater time to cherish this phrase as the Indian judicial system has passed a landmark judgment on Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. On September 6, a historic judgment by the Supreme Court of India set the record straight on the issue of homosexuality being illegal in the country. The 5-judge bench led by CJI Dipak Misra ruled in favor of decriminalizing homosexuality. Therefore, homosexual behavior is no longer recognized as “unnatural” according to the law in India.
The victory has been widely celebrated by different groups and factions all over the country. The general population has expressed its solidarity with the decision, and major brands have followed suit. Nike, Freecharge, Zomato, Swiggy, Jack & Jones, and Mother’s Dairy are some of the big names that have released digital campaigns celebrating the victory.
After all, love has yet again conquered all, and India is celebrating this paradigm shift as we speak!
