LGBTQIA+ rights have been a concern for quite a long time. While many countries have recognized more than two genders, most countries still don’t recognize LGBTQIA+ legally. With their campaign named Acceptance Street, Mastercard wanted to assert respect and rights to people of all sexualities. On the 50th anniversary of the LGBTQIA+ movement, Christopher street and Gay street were installed with new signs. While the original signs remained in place, ten new signs were installed below them with multiple colors. These included: ‘Lesbian,’ ‘Bisexual,’ ‘Transsexual,’ ‘Queer,’ ‘Intersex,’ ‘Asexual,’ ‘Non-Binary,’ ‘Pansexual,’ ‘Two-Spirit,’ ‘+.’

The campaign was also backed by the city human rights commission. After a special discussion with the commission, Mastercard will allow the new applicants of their cards to choose their genders according to their preferences and not just the binary genders.

The campaign has given a new feeling of inclusion to the LGBTQIA+ movement and has displayed a great message that ‘Sexuality has no limits.
