Go Together – Sharing the road with bicycle riders
March 4, 2016
Cyclists and motorists have the same rights and responsibilities when using the road. Cyclists are legitimate road users and have the right to be treated with courtesy and care by other road users.
In turn, cyclists must obey the bicycle road rules. Cyclists who break the law are now subject to the same penalties as motorists according to NSW (New South Wales) Government.
From 1 March 2016, drivers will need to give bicycle riders at least 1 metre of space when passing. Watch this animation to understand how the new rules affect you, and how you can help ensure that we all Go Together safely on our roads.
