Amazon Alexa Turns 3 – How Alexa has affected Indian Households and lives

COTW — Mon, 22 Feb 2021 04:48:24 +0000

Smart speakers have increasing popularity all around the globe. All of this is possible because of ever-improving technology and machine learning. Amazon’s Alexa entered Indian markets three years ago and has an increasing number of users and admirers since then. With its Alexa Turns 3 campaign, Amazon wants to showcase the perks of having an Alexa smart speaker at home and how everyone in Indian households loves Alexa.

Be it the Kids, the Elderly, or the young and energetic. Everyone loves Alexa for their reasons. The Kids love it for the music and vocational poems, the elderly get time to time reminders for their tasks and medicines, and the young get the liberty of controlling their smart homes at the point of their voices. Amazon has tried to display the same in its campaign.

The campaign is creative and displays how Alexa has made a place in Indian households and its importance in daily life.

Plot Twist – an AI-based personalised and interactive storytelling experience with Alexa on Amazon Echo Dot

COTW — Sun, 26 May 2019 14:08:55 +0000

When children hear stories, they use them to make sense of the world. It shapes how they think and affects the choices they make even later in life. Most fairytales we’ve grown up with reiterate toxic gender roles by conditioning kids to think girls must be beautiful and docile while boys must be strong and violent, or they’re simply not good enough. If we want to change how kids see themselves, we need to change the narrative of stories they’re being told. Presenting Plot Twist – an AI-based personalised and interactive storytelling experience with Amazon Alexa on Amazon Echo Dot. Our little reminder to kids that they can be whoever they want to be.

Kindly note that this is STUDENT SPEC WORK and has not been commissioned by the brand.

From rival Artificial intelligences to newlywed wives – The Wedding of Siri & Alexa

COTW — Fri, 03 May 2019 17:40:21 +0000

On April 12, 2019, history created itself when attendees at the Belvedere castle in Vienna witnessed the world’s first AI marriage. The Wedding of Siri & Alexa ceremony professed the idea that love is a concept that transcends gender. In this campaign supporting LGBTQ+ rights, the Vienna Tourist Board partnered with Serviceplan-Munich to give birth to a ceremonial exchange of vows between the two Artificial Intelligence.

The guests at the wedding included LGBTQ+ celebrities from Austria who attended the ceremony a month ahead of the EuroPride event that is to be held in June. After the officiation of the union between Siri and Alexa, the newlywed couple even made its way through Vienna in a horse-drawn carriage.

The emotional reaction of the guests present in the audience signified how moving a love story beyond definitions can be. Those who couldn’t witness the wedding in person can download the Pride Skill developed by plan.Net Innovation Studio from the Amazon Alexa Skill store. The function will enable users to not only recreate the wedding vows shared by Siri and Alexa, but it will also give them information about the festivities lined up for the EuroPride event.

We feel that this campaign makes tactful use of two rival technologies to put across a meaningful message about love. We wish Siri and Alexa a happy married life!

Amazon Super Bowl commercial gives a sneak peek into a world without Alexa’s voice

COTW — Sun, 16 Dec 2018 07:37:02 +0000

In the world of virtual assistants, Alexa has a reputation paralleled by a selected few. In fact, the friendly voice of Amazon’s echo home devices is irreplaceable. A recent super bowl commercial by Amazon proves the same.

When Alexa loses her voice, some influential contenders try to fill her place. Given the fact that the alternate voices were provided by the likes of Gordon Ramsey, Cardi B, Rebel Wilson, and Anthony Hopkins, calling the replacements noteworthy is an understatement. All the celebrities who lent their voices for the campaign put their galvanizing personalities on display in tandem with the ad’s main concept. However, the campaign uses humour to put forward the notion that the real Alexa voice reigns supreme in its realm.

Another interesting detail about Amazon Super Bowl commercial is the guest appearance of Jeff Bezos. What’s better than the face of the company tagging along for a witty campaign? We assume that “nothing” is the correct answer in this context, and we’d use the same word to describe what could have made the commercial better. Moreover, the campaign’s success speaks for itself!
