It’s annoying to wait to get an answer. Even more so when it…

It’s annoying to wait to get an answer. Even more so when it is online and takes years… After reviewing their own Facebook pages, Burger King has learned that people don’t always get the answer they deserve. That’s why Burger King decided to reply to all the burger fans they could through Whopper Reply campaign.

It’s not always easy to have an overview of all the hungry burger fans on Facebook. But people who have spent time writing a comment deserve an answer, even though it has been a pretty long time since they reached out. So on Thursday 24th, the majority of the McDonald’s burger fans in Denmark who have been left hanging for days, months or even years, woke up to a reply from Burger King in the form of a helpful, yet funny answer and a free flame-grilled Whopper to try and make up for the lack of attention.

While working with their online customer service, Burger King became aware that their closest competitor was not quite on point when it comes to online customer service. As Burger King believes that all burger fans should get the replies they deserve – whether they like flame-grilled Whoppers or Big Macs -,, they decided to lend a helping hand to their colleagues at McDonald’s.

Burger King UAE is offering people discounts that match their pay cut percentage…

Burger King UAE is offering people discounts that match their pay cut percentage with the ‘Pay Cut Whopper’ campaign. The well-timed campaign, created by Wunderman Thompson Dubai, promotes the burger chain’s new mobile app by providing customers with this option on all home delivery orders for the duration of their workplace pay cuts.

“We’re in this together is a common refrain in these times,” said Khaled Alghamdi, vice president at Olayan Food Group. “But we wanted to back this up with something more definite. With the ‘Pay Cut Whopper,’ we hope to add some positivity to people’s everyday lives by cutting down the costs of enjoying their favourites from the Home of the Whopper.”

Recently, it has been reported that nearly eight out of 10 companies or employees have faced temporary pay cuts. The realities of the current situation mean that organisations worldwide are reducing employee salaries to cope. This, in turn, has led to many people being wary of their spends. Another behaviour change has been that ordering in is more common than ever before. Marrying these two facts, Burger King UAE chose to launch its new app while making every order a little easier on people’s wallets. In many ways, this is a promotional mechanism with broader positive undertones.

All anyone has to do is download the Burger King Arabia app, add in their pay cut percentage plus duration and avail the equivalent discount right away. The offer is valid on unlimited home delivery orders in the UAE, with the discount and duration capped at 30% and three months respectively.

The brand has unequivocally given people the power not just to add their own discounts, but also choosing the duration; letting them truly ‘have it their way’ by just taking their word for it. What this means is that most could end up choosing the maximum discount percentage and duration, even if these are more than their pay cut one. However, BK saw this as an opportunity to transform the typical download-app-for-discount-code model, turning it into a new and more meaningful audience-led medium to support people who are financially constrained.

“We aimed to be innovative while being more relatable and human at the same time,” explained Pablo Maldonado, executive creative director – Wunderman Thompson Dubai, the agency behind this campaign. “People today are ordering in at home to create moments similar to eating out. So this possibility could help them have many more such ‘get-togethers’ with family and friends. Plus, it adds a welcome new format of promo to the famed BK experience!”

The news channels, the social media platforms, even the social gatherings these days…

The news channels, the social media platforms, even the social gatherings these days are abuzz with discussions, debates and deliberations as India, the largest democracy in the World goes into General Elections. This year, a whopping 130 million youngsters have been added to the country’s total voting population. Most of these Gen Z have been brought up in the era of social media and smartphones. They are believed to be more politically aware who actively fight the “hashtag war” for an India they believe they deserve. To encourage these young voters to go out and make their choice in the ongoing general elections, Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd., the master franchisee of McDonald’s in West and South, did a thought-provoking social activation McDonald’s #MakeYourChoice. As a part of the activation, customers who didn’t vote in the ongoing General Elections were served something other than what they had ordered. When the baffled and somewhat frustrated customers complained about the wrong order, the crew pointed out that since they did not cast their vote, they have lost their right to choose what they want! The activation has been conceptualized and executed by the DDB Mudra Group.

When McDonald’s first launched its delivery service, it didn’t cover nearly as many…

When McDonald’s first launched its delivery service, it didn’t cover nearly as many locations as it does now. Unfortunately, some potential customers avoided using the service because they still believed the delivery network was as limited as it was when it first began. The challenge was to showcase the strong delivery network and how close the nearest delivery centre is to one’s home/office. And differentiate McDonald’s from its competitors. Instead of doing the obvious thing of showing the reach or the speed of McDonald’s delivery, they wanted to show what a strong delivery network meant for McDonald’s customers.

They looked at the one thing that every customer wants – the desire to get their order delivered not just in time but having the food being piping hot and fresh. A strong delivery network ideally should ensure just that. But, the very concept of delivery service means that time and therefore, the freshness, can often tend to be lost, due to the logistics of bikers managing multiple deliveries at the same time. McDonald’s treats every order as an individual delivery. Literally. Every trip gets its own order. A living testament of its strong delivery network. They wanted to show that advantage.

The one thing that people are so used to seeing on UAE’s roads are the iconic McDelivery bikes cruising and wiggling ahead, be it highways or traffic jams. The back shot of the box on a bike driven by a McDelivery biker is something that everyone recognizes across the UAE. So, to demonstrate McDonald’s philosophy of treating every order as an individual delivery for each customer, they created graphic posters that used the boxes behind the bikes as the medium. Each box was designed into an iconic and recognizable food item from the McDonald’s menu; a visual depiction of an individual order getting its own exclusive trip.

Posts of food are the most common on Instagram. Millions of people around…

Posts of food are the most common on Instagram. Millions of people around the world are always drooling over delicious photos of food. Heinz saw this as an opportunity and launched the campaign called ‘Heinz Irresistible Posts’ which became very popular in Brazil.

‘Now you don’t just like the post but also eat them.’ This was an interesting way to use geolocation to increase their popularity. By looking at the stories of local users, chef Santi Roig from Underdog Meat & Beer Restaurant made delicious burgers during lunch time for the Instagram followers. Taking this opportunity, Heinz used its packaging to deliver delicious food to people in the nooks and corners to make their brand more popular. It was a brilliant 2-hour advertising campaign launched by the ad agency Africa with the help of Facebook Creative Shop that became very popular in Brazil. With collaboration with local restaurants, it had some tremendous results.

Hence, the followers of Heinz in Brazil on Instagram were pleasantly surprised at lunch time by some irresistible and delicious food through #IrresistiblePosts.

They attempted to turn people’s cravings into reality so they can eat it with Heinz!

Kids love to play and are always up for a quick game or two. On Children’s day, McDonald’s Peru wanted people to have fun the way kids do. After taking their order, McDonald’s employees invited customers to play an age-old game which almost everyone has played in their childhood. If the customer won, his/her order was free.
Fahrenheit DDB is the agency involved. Mathematically, the odds of winning a game of rock, paper, scissors against an opponent making random choices is 50%. If we take that into consideration, every second customer who played must have won a free meal. If this promo lasted the whole day, there was obviously a decent budget involved. What do you think of this campaign? Share this post and your views in the comments below.
