Volkswagen
Colouring books are a best seller for kids and adults. With that in mind, 11:21 created a Volkswagen Children’s Day campaign that turns the print ad into a platform for colouring, crossword puzzles, etc. The campaign goes to the POS, with tableware in the group’s four dealerships in Rio. The placement will be in the newspaper O Globo.

Save the Children: Pencil Toolbox
As part of Save the Children’s ‘Save their Childhood’ campaign, the creative print ads refers to Romania’s app. 282,000 children are in danger of not beginning or continuing their school education.

Let’s raise a generation of equals! #GenerationEqual #GenE by Flipkart It’s fair to…

Let’s raise a generation of equals! #GenerationEqual #GenE by Flipkart

It’s fair to say in today’s times, all of us believe in gender equality. But how many of us realise that the idea of equality matters not just for us as adults- but to children too? Our dated ideas of gender roles start right from the time we assume our niece might prefer a doll over a car as a birthday gift without knowing for sure, or how we think it’s ok to tell our sons that being sensitive is unmanly. How we keep our children’s experiences and expectations about life and their personalities separated right from their childhood, offering them just half of what life has in store.

Well, the new generation of toddlers, tweens and those in between… with a little help from Flipkart and Dentsu Webchutney are here to tell us how they’d like to be raised. They even have a name for themselves, like Gen-X and Gen-Y, this new generation calls itself #GenerationEqual, or “Gen-E”!

“Look around you. Do you have a son, daughter, niece, nephew, or a friend’s child born a few years after the millennium? They are all part of #GenerationEqual. Real change will happen when we collectively decide to make the same rules that influence their lives. And as far as we can, let’s keep those rules the same for both boys and girls. That is the most realistic way to ensure our biases don’t pass on to them,” says Prashant Gopalakrishnan, Sr.Vice-President, Client Services, Dentsu Webchutney.

“As parents in 2018, we’d like to be progressive in letting our child choose for themselves in several aspects, so that they get to do what they love. Let the child experience the hobbies, passions, interests, and personality traits that come naturally to them… whether it’s a boy who wants to learn cooking, or a girl passionate about collecting superhero toys. And the other way around too,” says Apuarv Sethi, Director – Brand Marketing at Flipkart.

Gen-E is an Indian brand’s biggest investment on the subject of gender-equality among children so far. And Flipkart’s third campaign to echo their new brand promise of ‘partnering with the progressive Indian’ via ‘Naye India ke saath’. Like the previous two instalments, the brand’s role in it is admirably humble: and the brand is in fact used in the most surprising ways… Flipkart boxes appear ‘fly on the wall’ style- barely visible in corners of the screen, brought alive through bubble-wrap, and in one scene: even made into an adorable toy for a child.

In just a year of having started the new brand charter, Flipkart has campaigned on three distinctly different social subjects. With Penguin Dad, they celebrated fathers involved in child-raising; with Choose Your Age, they celebrated those defeating age with experiences; and now with Gen-E: they’re almost asking us to be what our children need us to so that more and more of us can be celebrated. A new generation is waiting to be raised without gender-bias. The ball’s simply in our court.

Welcome and behold! Here is another masterpiece, Chhat Pe Milte hai, a digital…

Welcome and behold! Here is another masterpiece, Chhat Pe Milte hai, a digital campaign from the house of Ambuja Cement that should, according to us, go down as a case study in the craft of advertising. If Khali’s TVC two years back took India by storm, thanks to its humorous rendition, the Chhat Pe Milte hai campaign is in a league of its own. So what’s special about it? Well, we are excited to say, almost everything!

This digital campaign aims to promote Ambuja Cement’s premium product ‘Ambuja Plus Roof Special’, which as the name suggests, is designed to add extra strength and longevity to a roof, one of the most vital parts of a house. The campaign highlights the importance of ‘roof’ or ‘chhat’ in Indian homes.

Instead of taking a run-of-the-mill approach to highlight the product, Ambuja Cement plays around nostalgia and stirs our fondest memories associated with the terrace in our homes. Yes, the same terrace which seems to have lost in the urban construction mayhem. When was the last time you went to the terrace in a high rise building in Mumbai, Delhi or any metro city, for that matter? Well, chances are slim given how rarely we do that! The campaign has been launched with a video in which the legendary Gulzaar Sahab narrates in his unique voice a sublime poetry written by him, which takes us through the heartwarming memories and the role a roof has in helping us create these memories. The video’s emotional appeal is heightened by the background score that will take over your mind and you won’t be able to stop humming it. In the video, we see children playing hide and seek, a couple flying kites, wedding function, a cricket match – almost everything you must have seen happening on terraces in Indian households. The film ends by inviting fans to share their special roof stories with Ambuja Cement and the best ones could become a part of their next campaign! How cool!

Our Take on this Campaign!

We believe Ambuja Cement and the agency Triton Communications have come together to deliver a brilliant campaign. Many things have fallen in their right place in this campaign. The brand gave a quintessential advertising product brief. The agency converted it into an extraordinary storytelling spectacle of 4 minutes, 20 seconds video. And it did not stop there. It went ahead and seamlessly blended the video to get ‘engagement’, the holy grail of marketing for brands these days.

Wow is the only word we can think of as we go back to watch the ad again.
We can’t say more. Go ahead, see it for yourself. Watch. Replay. Repeat. Yes, it’s that good.

Magic Bus, one of India’s leading childhood to livelihood NGOs, launched its first-ever…

Magic Bus, one of India’s leading childhood to livelihood NGOs, launched its first-ever public appeal TVC ‘You can save her’ today. The video, featuring Abhishek Bachchan, is aimed to the general public and attempts to spur involvement in ending poverty.

The storyboard follows a well-to-do family’s chance encounter with a girl child caught in an exploitative web of child labour, and a life without education. It goes on to show how individuals can take a step to save her from losing her childhood to marriage or exploitative labour.

Magic Bus will reach out to mainstream media like Star Plus to showcase the ad film. The film will also be launched on Magic Bus’s YouTube channel.

Speaking about the ad film, Matthew Spacie, Founder, Magic Bus India Foundation, said: “Every time we read the newspaper or step out of our homes, we witness children living in worst possible circumstances. This video appeal is our attempt to provide urban, educated people to be directly part of a solution. When you support a child on the Magic Bus programme, you ensure she goes to school, escapes child marriage and has a salaried job when he or she grows up. ”

Speaking about his participation in the TVC, Bollywood heartthrob and long-time Magic Bus Patron Abhishek Bachchan, said, “It is my priviledge to be part of the solution by helping Magic Bus issue it’s public appeal on ending poverty permanently. I have spent time with Magic Bus’ children and youth and what’s wonderful is that their approach works – changing one life at a time for the better.”

Henry Ford had rightly said – “To do more for the world than…

Henry Ford had rightly said – “To do more for the world than the world does for you – that is success.” Celebrating International Youth Day, Culture Machine has released a video on their digital channel ‘Being Indian’ featuring young community leaders from Magic Bus, a Mumbai based NGO and their ‘students’ in an endearing new video titled ‘The Kids Are Alight’.

In the video, team ‘Being Indian’ visits the community leaders in action on ground with children of varying age groups from the underprivileged sections of society. These volunteers are from Magic Bus, one of the largest non-profits running a poverty alleviation programme for children and young people in India. The goal of these individuals is simple – they are trained at Magic Bus to mentor and deliver its programme to children in the community. At present, Magic Bus has 9000 volunteer mentors delivering its programme to 400,000 children in 22 states and 58 districts of India.

Commenting on this video, Karl Katgara, Creative Director, Culture Machine said – ‘This video aims to inspire and motivate all the youth of today the way we were inspired by the work Magic Bus does.”

Matthew Spacie, Founder, Magic Bus said, “Youth are at the centre of the Magic Bus programme. They are our biggest strength and inspiration. I hope and believe this video will encourage more youth to become change makers within their community”
Starting a provoking train of thought about the significance of giving back to society, this video is sure to inspire you and also motivate you to do whatever little you can, for the people around you.

While smiling or crying. While falling or hurting. You always remembered her. To the first doctor you ever called.
Happy Mother’s Day. Watch their tribute to her and #CallMomNow

Background

This Mother’s Day Practo decided to do a campaign exclusively on the digital platform to say thank you to the ‘first doctor’ that people called out for when in need.

Execution

Practo launched a ‘Supermom’ series highlighting the sacrifice and contribution of a mother towards the development of her child. On Twitter, it went ahead with a video to launch #CallMomNow and posted, “While smiling or crying, while falling or hurting, you always remembered her. The first doctor you ever called. Happy Mother’s Day.” It reached almost 1.5 million people, gathered 95,000 views and over 30,000 interactions.

The brand launched a Twitter contest, where it asked the participants six questions about their relationship with their mothers. Practo used this contest to engage the consumer and draw him into the conversation. This was followed by heavy promotion on social media platform that led to a phenomenal response on Mother’s Day.

Result

YouTube garnered over 5,50,000 views in just two days. Meanwhile on Twitter, the trend #CallMomNow secured 18,754 tweets and was trending for three hours on the occasion of Mother’s Day. Facebook also was not far behind with total interactions of over 42,000 and over two million impressions. Further, the overall response of the campaign was phenomenal crossing a reach of over 50 million people within two days.

Some ads leave a lasting impression in the minds and some fade away…

Some ads leave a lasting impression in the minds and some fade away instantly. Here, the Campaigns of the World Team presents you the list of ads that we believe delighted consumers due to their creative storytelling in the year 2015. Go through them and don’t forget to comment if you think we have missed out! Share it with your colleagues, friends and in your network. The best of 2015 in one link!

The Great Khali: Ambuja Cement

Home is a Heaven. But that wasn’t the case with the Indian born, our very own Punjabi puttar and the WWE superstar, The Great Khali. His strength was his problem and he never enjoyed living at his home. But when he builds his home with Ambuja Cement, he rediscovered the joy of living in one’s own home. Hilariously executed and hitting the right nerves for the consumers, this ad from Ambuja cement was an instant hit and created what the brand wanted the most – the top of mind recall from millions and millions of people across India. This advertisement also highlights the fact that if you can choose and use a celebrity well, the brand can go places!

Share the Load: P&G

Defying stereotypes that dominantly exist in the Indian society, Share the Load campaign from Ariel amplified conversations around the most obvious but rarely discussed topic – Is Laundry Only a Women’s Job? The campaign was amplified by interesting mix of TVC, digital, innovative product brochures and involving female celebrities, taking it to the next level. The brand not only owned the space around laundry but also built an emotional equity by provoking the society to talk about gender inequality and uneven distribution of domestic work.
Watch the case study and how the entire campaign was executed.

HP: I Like Your Soch But Love My Approach

Today’s youth has a different approach towards life. They are not always interested in following the traditional path of seeking a degree and then going for a full-time corporate job. Instead, they believe in doing things differently. The power of technology and self-motivation is driving them to take risks and attempt things differently. They are able to mend the good old ways to suit their new approach. HP India’s #BendtheRules Campaign was a celebration of a youth’s new approach and it subtly captures the new product innovation HP has introduced in its new range of tablets – a laptop that bends! How cool is that?

Fevikwik Ad – Todo Nahi Jodo

If any ad in 2015 delivered its product benefit in the most amazing way, it has to be this. The ad featured in the background of a ceremonial parade at the Wagah Border, highlighted the controversial and debated topic of India-Pakistan relations. Despite being such a politically hot topic, it was delivered in a very humorous and subtle way. The ad broke during the India Pakistan match, and it can only be estimated how powerful the reach would have been! Last but the least, it gave the beautiful message of working together in a positive manner, a popular opinion, citizens of the both country believe in.
Watch this and delight yourself.

Mauka Mauka (India Vs Pak): Star Sports

A match between India and Pakistan in a world cup is a dream run for advertisers. And for Star Sports, Mauka Mauka turned out script a new history! On 15th Feb, 2015, Pakistan was set to battle India for the 6th time in a row in a World Cup match. On all the previous 6 occasions, India was undefeated. The ad shows a generation of father-son in Pakistan tirelessly waiting to burst crackers if India loses a world cup match against their arch rivals Pakistan but that never happens. A brilliant insight, a beautifully made song and the perfect time made this ad one of the most sought after ads during the world cup season. Even after the matches, people hopped on the Internet websites to rewatch it again and again. For the cricketing world to see another terrific ad like this is almost believing like there can be another Sachin! Truly! Madly! Special!
If you missed it (you must be based in Icelan!).
If you have watched it, do it again. It never bores!

Touch the pickle: Whisper

Finally, someone, especially a brand took the bold stop of saying no to stereotypes and started an initiative associated with women and periods. Why shouldn’t women talk about their periods or hold themselves for doing things they want?
A beautiful initiative by Whisper: #TouchThePickle.

Bhains ki aankh: Shop Clues

Getting surprised by commercials from Shop Clues was something you could expect in 2015. There series of films had something unconventional and idiosyncratic that you will rarely forget. Also, their approach of taking a totally different route from their competitors like flipkart or amazon definitely helped them get their message clear and aloud. And the best part, we got something rhyming and yes, again, totally unconventional like this: Ting se lekar tong, ding se lekar dong, get sab kuch on Shopclues.com.
What are you waiting for?

#HelpaChildReach5: Lifebuoy

Millions of children die in India every year due to unhygienic infections. And it is on the mothers to ensure that they are clean and hygienic to give birth to a healthy and safe baby. That’s the pain point LifeBuoy decided to address with this real-life experiment involving Sangrahi, a to-be-mother.
We can’t say exactly why but everytime we watch this ad (and that has been plenty of times in the past year), we have tears in our eyes. Go ahead, watch it now.

Bhalai Ki Supply: Tata Docomo

Insaan hi Insaan ke kaam aata hai! Taking a simple insight we encounter everyday in our lives, Tata Docomo took ahead its ‘Open Up’ proposition and connected back to its product offerings (more data, more recharge) in its “Chalu Rakho Bhalai Ki Supply”. It all connects magically! And you will believe it them.
Sit back and get ready to be transported to your childhood. Backed by soothing music, beautiful real life scenarios, and of course, those words from Gulzar saab, make it all to difficult to forget.

A video appeal to Cannes Lions Jury Members: iCongotv

This one, because we believe this industry (advertising) can make a difference. And we believe, it does, it really does. But we have to do it the right way. A powerful campaign. A personal favourite of ours! We should change things not for just 3 months of the year. But for the entire year! And a lifetime. Watch it and share your views.

Internet Baby Heaven: MTS

We can’t live without Internet. Yes, we are that generation. And the way MTS used this insight to introduce us to the #InternetBaby, about to arrive in this world to #ExploitTheWeb is simply brilliant. One of the most watched videos on YouTube in the year 2015.
Watch as the baby who has just popped out his mother’s womb is exploiting the web.

Rudali: For Radio Mirchi

This breaks the clutter. Not just breaks but destroys it. Stands out of all the ads we have picked, because of the unique cultural story telling route it has taken to tell a story about the brand. And it drives home the message that Mirchi Sunne Waale Always Khush.
Hilarious. Adorable. A must watch.
