MISEREOR Social Swipe is the first interactive billboard to accept credit cards, making…

MISEREOR Social Swipe is the first interactive billboard to accept credit cards, making donating easier than ever before. A credit card swipe through the poster donated 2 euros to MISEREOR. It triggered an interactive experience: the card cut a slice of bread from a loaf, illustrating that the money donated was providing a daily meal for a family in Peru.

Sascha Hanke, the executive creative director at Kolle Rebbe explained the making-off-procedure: “It was a challenge. All processes connected with the donation had to be synchronized. When the card is swiped a secure process quickly authenticates it and in a split second activates a film sequence on screen”.

About MISEREOR
Germany’s biggest catholic aid organisation MISEREOR works for the world’s poorest people, regardless of denomination. We develop prize-winning campaigns and new products based on the principle of ‘Playful, not pitiful’.

Doconomy launch the world’s first credit card with a carbon footprint limit, Do…

Doconomy launch the world’s first credit card with a carbon footprint limit, Do Black. The launch of this premium card marks the first milestone in the support that Doconomy provides to the UN Climate Change secretariat (UNFCCC) to encourage global climate action. Do Black not only helps users track and measure CO2 emissions associated with their purchases but also puts a limit to the climate impact of their spending.

Doconomy, a Swedish fin-tech startup for everyday climate action, has worked with Mastercard to develop this revolutionary tool for consumers wanting to act against climate change. Do Black also invites the user to offset their carbon footprint through projects meeting the criteria of United Nations certified green projects. Put, the first card ever to prevent consumers from exceeding their limit, not based on credit, but on levels of CO2 emissions caused by their consumption.

“We all need to come to terms with the urgency of the situation and rapidly move towards more responsible consumption,” said Doconomy CEO Nathalie Green. “With DO Black there are no more excuses.”

“Through our collaboration with the UN Climate Change Secretariat and MasterCard, DO will enable people to do their part to contribute to the carbon-reduction goals of 2030 and onwards,” added Green.

Astronomical Sales by Mastercard, a unique sale – tied directly to an eclipse…

Astronomical Sales by Mastercard, a unique sale – tied directly to an eclipse that hadn’t been seen in the region for 172 years. This made it an ideal opportunity to capitalise on what would essentially be Mastercard’s logo in the sky. When the eclipse started, so did the sale on the region’s biggest online retailer, noon.com. And as the sun diminished, so did the prices, reaching discounts of 97%, and returning gradually to full price. For those who purchased at the exact moment the eclipse formed the Mastercard logo, priceless prizes were awarded.

To create excitement in the region about the sale, Mastercard secured some of the busiest out of home advertising spaces in the UAE, as well as an array of digital and print creative in the region.

But why? Would be your immediate first question to yourself. What would it…

But why? Would be your immediate first question to yourself. What would it achieve? Well, after 50 years, Mastercard is planning to eliminate the word Mastercard from its logo. It’s a rebranding activity that the company is going to roll out on its new cards soon. So you won’t see the word “Mastercard,” leaving red, yellow and orange entwined circles in the form of the current Venn diagram that you can see on the card. We think that Mastercard wants the brand to be listed and remembered as one of the nameless iconic brands just like Apple’s apple and Nike’s swoosh. But there’s more than meets the eye, it seems. Mastercard New Logo

The strategy behind Mastercard’s decision to roll out a rebrand is that it wants the world to see it more than just a credit card firm. It wants to be known as a technology brand, thus this step to modernize its look and appeal to suit the palate of global markets and young demographics of the mobile era.

As per Mastercard’s CMO, Raja Rajamannar, Mastercard had been busy doing research since the last 2 years in various countries. He claims that the company conducted research programs in developing as well as developed places. And as per their research reports, 80% of the people interrogated in these different countries could differentiate Mastercard’s identity through its logo itself. Hence, the decision to discard the name from their iconic logo, leaving more room for the circles to be revealed clearly and making them more prominent on smaller mobile screens and on the interfaces of smartwatch gadgets. We think that Mastercard might achieve a breakthrough in terms of giving it a more global approach and brand recall. But how will it really impact the way they do business, needs to be seen. The rollout, however, will not take place all at once. It will be done in stages.
