#IHaveThisAbility: Durex’s Empowering Campaign on Disability, Taboos, and Intimacy In a bold stride…

#IHaveThisAbility: Durex’s Empowering Campaign on Disability, Taboos, and Intimacy

In a bold stride towards inclusivity and understanding, Durex, a renowned leader in the realm of intimacy, has embarked on a groundbreaking campaign. This initiative is aimed at dismantling preconceived notions surrounding disability and sexuality. With the primary goal of eradicating taboos and fostering acceptance, Durex seeks to redefine the narrative by asserting that every form of consensual, safe intimacy is inherently beautiful. This campaign takes a deep dive into the often-overlooked facets of disabled individuals’ experiences, highlighting their incredible ability to transform challenges into newfound sources of pleasure.

Normalizing Taboos: Durex’s Vision
Durex’s vision is rooted in the notion that everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, deserves to experience a fulfilling and joyful intimate life. The campaign sets out to challenge societal norms that have inadvertently created a gap between disability and sexuality. By recognizing that intimacy is a fundamental human need, the campaign seeks to bridge this gap, fostering an environment of empathy, understanding, and acceptance.

Discovering Hidden Abilities
One of the key revelations that underpins Durex’s campaign is the incredible resilience of disabled individuals in adapting to their circumstances. Disabled people often develop unique abilities as a means of compensating for what they may lack physically. For instance, individuals who are blind might develop a heightened sense of touch or other sensory skills. These remarkable adaptations challenge conventional notions of disability, revealing a rich tapestry of talents that empower individuals to fully engage with the world, including the realm of intimacy.

From Disability to Empowerment: Unveiling Dirty Abilities
Central to Durex’s campaign is the innovative concept of “dirty abilities.” By reframing disabilities as opportunities for empowerment, the campaign sheds light on how these unique talents can be harnessed to enhance intimate experiences. Through personal stories, testimonials, and eye-opening narratives, Durex demonstrates how the challenges posed by disabilities can be transformed into avenues of pleasure and self-discovery within the bedroom. This shift in perspective aims to dissolve the stigma surrounding disabled individuals’ intimate lives, encouraging open conversations and fostering greater awareness.

The 360° Campaign: Giving Voice to Diversity
To amplify the voices and experiences of disabled individuals, Durex has meticulously designed a comprehensive 360° campaign. This multi-faceted approach utilizes various mediums, including visual storytelling, digital content, social media engagement, and real-life testimonials. By embracing a holistic strategy, Durex aims to reach a wide audience, sparking conversations about intimacy, pleasure, and the intersections of disability and desire.

Conclusion
Durex’s campaign is a resounding call to action, urging society to reshape its perceptions and attitudes towards disability and sexuality. By debunking taboos and highlighting the extraordinary abilities that arise from adversity, the campaign paves the way for a more inclusive and compassionate world. As Durex continues to advocate for the normalization of diverse sexual experiences, it inspires us all to recognize the inherent beauty in every form of intimacy, reinforcing the belief that as long as it’s consensual and safe, love knows no boundaries.

“COP26 Unaccessible Conference” a Public Awareness Campaign by Leo Burnett and Access Israel

Disability affects more than 1 billion people around the world. Yet, it is still often treated as a second thought when making mega-events accessible – the United Nations COP26 Climate Summit was no exception. Still, this time the ‘oversight’ sparked an international incident and a very timely campaign.

COP26 Inaccessible Conference for Israel energy minister Karine Elharrar

Karine Elharrar, Israel’s Energy Minister, suffers from muscular dystrophy and, as such, uses a wheelchair for mobility. But when she attended the Glasgow climate conference this week alongside Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, she found herself unable to enter the conference complex due to accessibility issues – and was left out.

Her wheelchair was not allowed into any of the entrances. While the Prime Minister’s staff tried to help her find a way in – including riding a shuttle, which was not wheelchair accessible either – she had no choice after two hours but to give up on attending the conference and make her way back to the hotel.

The problem was set straight the next day, and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologized to the Minister for the “confusion with the arrangements”. But Access Israel saw an opportunity to amplify what the Minister had implied in her tweet following the incident (see below) and send a message on behalf of the millions of disabled ignored every day to the world and its leaders:
“Safeguarding our future starts with caring for people”.

1 in 5 people living in the UK are disabled and an estimated…

1 in 5 people living in the UK are disabled and an estimated 48% are unemployed – that’s over one million job-seekers looking for opportunities and a disability unemployment gap of 30% (only 52% of disabled are employed vs 82% of the general working population). BECO is on a mission to change that. BECO is looking to draw attention through campaign #StealOurStaff to the Disability Employment Gap and disrupt employers’ outdated attitudes towards people with disabilities, which takes the impressive-meter off the charts.

“There’s over a million disabled folks currently out of work. We’d like to hire them all, but we can’t do it on our own. Of course we don’t enjoy seeing some of our best friends go, but we’re happy to be a stepping stone to help them land their dream job.”

APF France Handicap: France Accessible Background In Paris, 2018, one basic universal right…

APF France Handicap: France Accessible

Background In Paris, 2018, one basic universal right isn’t respected: equal mobility for all. People with reduced mobility only have access to 2% of the Paris Metro, as only Line 14 is properly equipped to help wheelchair users get around. An unfair & unacceptable situation, making Paris the least accessible city, for people with disabilities, in the world, far behind other big cities like Washington (100% accessible), Los Angeles (100% accessible), Tokyo (88% accessible) or Barcelona (82% accessible). This situation is cause for concern, especially since the 2024 Olympic & Paralympic Games are right around the corner, and Paris is meant to be one of the host cities.

Idea
During World Mobility Day, hundreds of volunteers & people with disabilities participated in an illegal stunt operation that took place in the 293 non-accessible metro stations in Paris. The classical metro map was covered with a new metro map that exclusively showed Line 14: the only accessible line to people with disabilities.

Strategy
With only 9 accessible metro stations out of 303, the Paris metro is the least accessible one in the world for people with reduced mobility. Mobility is a universal right, people with reduced mobility should have equal access to it like everybody else. First target the general public (70 million french people, especially all Parisians), especially those with influence on social networks. The second target, the journalists & the media. And lastly, those who have the power to change things: the politicians. APF France Handicap managed to catch the attention of the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and of the French president Emmanuel Macron. They redesigned the Paris metro map so that it would only show Line 14, printed it and stuck it on top of the classical metro maps in the 293 non-accessible metro stations in Paris. They also handed out 10 000 leaflets containing our map to people. Execution Media channels and integration: the current metro maps located at the entrance and inside Paris metro stations. Implementation: They redesigned the Paris metro map so that it would only show Line 14. They then printed the maps in real size using self-adhesive paper.

Scale
We stuck these new maps on top of the classical metro maps in the 293 non-accessible metro stations in Paris.

Timeline
This covering stunt took place on World Mobility Day, on the 26th of September 2018, and was talked about in the media & politics for 3 months.

Outcome
590 million global impressions – 6,5 million in earned media – 0 media investments – Hundreds of articles in the media – Caught the attention of the politicians: Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo sent an official letter to the organisation in charge of the Paris Metro, to take concrete measures to make the metro more accessible to all. Emmanuel Macron recently announced that 60% of the metro network would be accessible to all by 2024, in time for the Olympic / Paralympic Games.

They climbed to the mountains of Caucasus and went through ices of Lake Baikal. Amazing photographs we presented to the audience at the interactive exposition in a museum in the centre of Moscow where with the help of interactive installations visitors had the possibility to stand in the place of photographers and to try making the similar photos. We showed a documentary film about our heroes and proved to the society that there are no people with limited possibilities. There are people with unlimited talent.
