The most important aspect of travelling is not about ticking off the top…

The most important aspect of travelling is not about ticking off the top 10 lists or uploading an instaworthy picture. It’s about the people we meet, the stories we hear and the lessons we learn. We travel to become better versions of ourselves.

Take a chance. Ditch the top 10 lists for the road less travelled. Find magic in hidden corners of the world, listen to forgotten stories & meet that special someone.

“When we travel to different places, we’ll see different language, people, religion and culture. The more we step into foreign lands, the more we realise there is no right or wrong way to live or to think about life. Every society is different. Indeed, there are perspectives and cultural differences that we may or may not agree with. But, it is only when we accept that differences exist in our human family, and embrace these differences, we can learn, understand and empathise with all types of people,” Spencer Lee, AirAsia’s head of commercial said.

“With this campaign, we also aim to inspire young Malaysians to look beyond the usual attractions and explore the roads less travelled with our wide network in China such as Kunming, Shantou and Shenzhen and India including Bhubaneswar, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam,” Lee added.

You might be able to get your hands on a set of handwoven…

You might be able to get your hands on a set of handwoven shirts stitched by the prisoners of the Presidency Correctional Home in Kolkata. Yes, you heard it right. Turtle Fashion, a Kolkata-based menswear apparel firm has tied up with the government of West Bengal to train around 50 inmates of the Presidency Correctional Home to stitch and design finished apparel from cotton fiber. Clearly, it’s a stitch in time saves nine solutions for prisoners to help them rehabilitate and find a purpose amidst the monotonous prison life. Prisoners will be trained to sew, embroider, and create handwoven shirts as finished apparel to be put up on display at Turtle’s stores as an exclusive range. These animated spots titled Made in Prison, aim to encourage prisoners to learn the sought-after skill of stitching, thus helping them escape the darkness and look at the bright side of life.

Turtle plans to set up 5 handloom machines, 2 ginning and 12 stitching machines inside the Presidency Correctional Home of Kolkata, which would round up to an estimated investment worth 8 lakh. As per a preliminary assessment report, they’re planning to design up to 120 shirt pieces in a day which will be put up for sale across Turtle’s flagship outlets.

#NoConditionsApply, a global campaign on Sindoor khela to unite women who couldn’t previously join the celebration because of their differences.

FCB Ulka’s #NoConditionsApply campaign for Times of India aims to change the 400-year-old Bengali Hindu ritual of Sindoor khela from one of division to one of inclusion. During this custom, married women come together to celebrate their marital status, while others – namely single women, divorcees and widows, as well as the gay and transgender community – are forced to look on, uninvited. #NoConditionsApply creates a newly inclusive Sindoor khela narrated by various unmarried women from the community, the film presents the point-of-view of these onlookers, and gives them a voice for change. This new celebration embraces all women, regardless of background or social identity, to transform the long-held tradition of division into a tradition of sisterhood.

“This movement wasn’t for those who had opted out. It was for those who had been pushed out. It was about erasing a line not drawn by them, but by others,” said Swati Bhattacharya, Chief Creative Officer of FCB Ulka. “Me and my other sister, my transgender sister. My widowed sister. My sex-worker sister. My outlier sister. It was about equality in symbology. Every progressive, inclusive thought is only as powerful as the ritual it permeates. At least in a country like India, where ritual is everything.”

Shedding light on this theme, Rohit Ohri, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FCB India, remarked: “Swati Bhattacharya, Chief Creative Officer of FCB Ulka – and a feminist – created this campaign about social inclusion for Times of India. Inclusion cannot be conditional. And so, #NoConditionsApply was the perfect articulation to spark off this behavior-change campaign.”

Let’s not apply *conditions* on celebrations.

Sumeli Chatterjee, Vice President and Head of Brand TOI, also reflects on the social significance of this campaign, commenting: “#NoConditionsApply is an initiative that is close to our heart and existence. There is a lot of talk about diversity of gender; this highlights the need to have diversity even within the gender. While we have hosted this inclusive Sindoor khela initiative in Kolkata, the messaging is relevant to every occasion and every festivity. When we talk of gender equity, we cannot limit our conversations to only ambition and opportunities; we need to talk about inclusion in festivals, celebrations and every walk of life, which will allow everyone to walk that step together. No celebration can ever be complete without including one and all.”

“Traditions that divide us stand in the way of progress. This is true around the world. #NoConditionsApply shows that we can hold on to the human need for traditions, and yet share them with so many more. That’s progress,” said Susan Credle, Chief Creative Officer of FCB Global.

SYNOPSIS OF THE PROJECT:
Nukkad Printers is Kolkata’s first all-solutions print hub located in the Kalighat area. They wanted to generate awareness about the service of ‘customized’ quality printing as provided by them.

INSIGHTS:
Patachitra art had emerged in the post-independence era in Kalighat in Bengal. Originally, it was called ‘Kalighat Patachitra.’ This art first started out by depicting illustrations of gods, goddesses and several deities but later chose to customize its creations and instead depict stories from domestic life, tradition, folklore & culture in Bengal in the 19th century.

SOLUTION:
They decided to resurrect one of the oldest art forms of Bengal, ‘Patachitra’ that is slowly diminishing
Nukkad Printer is not only a printing hub but is also a place that accommodates your requirements according to your needs. The challenge was to depict this quality and create awareness about Nukkad Printer as a destination for quality customized printing.

Hence, using famous characters (from different segments such as politics, art, entertainment) who are iconic and placing them in an age-old traditional/domestic life situation, They chose to bring to life the art of customization.

#EveryoneOnFlipkart! From Watchman Anna to Constable Sahib to Dolly Mausi to Rastogi Ji,…

#EveryoneOnFlipkart! From Watchman Anna to Constable Sahib to Dolly Mausi to Rastogi Ji, Phew!

The secret is out, and the ones you expected never to be online, forget about shopping online are out there, ready to surprise you. That’s what #EveryoneOnFlipkart campaign, a series of video ads under the same theme aim to establish. One of the ads features Dolly Mausi, a Bengali lady who shares a laugh with her nieces as she solves the problem of choosing a perfect gift for her relatives using her favourite shopping app (flipkart). Another video showcases the everyday life a watchman and his trysts with online shopping! An interesting video in the series is based on a very real conversation amongst friends about online shopping and how it has impacted the neighbourhood retailers.

Like always, all the videos have taken a light-hearted tone to convey the brand message. The growing popularity of online shopping in emerging cities like Lucknow is the best example of how Flipkart is making inroads into India’s tier II and tier III cities. Watch these series of ads and enjoy.
