An-Nahar’s Silent Revolution: ‘The Elections Edition’ – The Power of Paper and Ink…

An-Nahar’s Silent Revolution: ‘The Elections Edition’ – The Power of Paper and Ink Campaign Securing Lebanon’s Elections

Introduction:
Lebanon finds itself on the edge of collapse, grappling with severe inflation and widespread poverty. The country’s political class, which has held power for decades, bears significant responsibility for this dire situation. Despite the hardships, Lebanon clings to hope that the upcoming elections will bring stability and much-needed change. However, recent attempts to obstruct the election by citing shortages of paper and ink have raised concerns. An-Nahar, a renowned newspaper known for upholding free speech and democracy, took a remarkable step to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Idea:
Amidst the possibility of using paper and ink shortages as an excuse to cancel the elections, An-Nahar made a bold decision that reverberated nationwide. Breaking its 88-year tradition, the newspaper did not publish an edition on February 2nd. Instead, it directed its entire stock of paper and ink to the government’s printing partner for the sole purpose of producing voting ballots.

By taking this extraordinary step, An-Nahar sent a resounding message to the Lebanese government and the world at large: no trivial excuse should deprive a nation of its democratic rights. The move gained significant traction on social media, with the entire nation rallying behind the cause. Lebanese citizens, in their own ways, contributed by donating paper, books, and magazines to support the election. Furthermore, local magazines, press companies, and even election candidates joined the movement, offering their assistance.

The campaign garnered extensive coverage from political shows, top broadcast channels, and competing newspapers within Lebanon. It captured the attention of the public, generating widespread support and emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the electoral process. Consequently, the online edition that day became the most widely read in An-Nahar’s history.

The collective efforts of the movement resulted in a remarkable outcome. Generous donations of paper and ink were received, providing enough resources to print ballots for the entire voting population of Lebanon. Consequently, the government has ceased referencing the shortages as a potential obstacle to the elections. Currently, the Lebanese elections are scheduled to proceed as planned, instilling hope for a brighter future and encouraging citizens to exercise their democratic rights.

Conclusion:
An-Nahar’s unprecedented decision to redirect its paper and ink resources towards printing voting ballots amidst shortages has had a profound impact on Lebanon. This act of solidarity resonated with the nation, prompting widespread support and donations from both the public and various media outlets. The movement has successfully secured the necessary materials to conduct the upcoming elections, diminishing concerns surrounding paper and ink shortages. As Lebanon prepares for this pivotal moment, the nation stands united, reaffirming its commitment to democracy and the pursuit of positive change.

Dentsu Italy and ten clients (Sky, Nestlé, Very Mobile, Fastweb, Plasmon, KFC, Engie,…

Dentsu Italy and ten clients (Sky, Nestlé, Very Mobile, Fastweb, Plasmon, KFC, Engie, Pringles, WindTre, Heinz) got together to create an integrated campaign to support LGBTQ+ community with a perfect media placement. Celebrate Pride with Rainbow Brands

An advertising campaign launched in newspapers and out of home, scheduled for the last two weeks of June.

All the companies that chose to join the project Rainbow Brands created by Dentsu had the opportunity to be protagonists with their logos in different subjects and media formats.

The creative idea draws its strength from simplicity: a multi-brand rainbow, where each one is associated with a rainbow flag colour.

Thanks to the support of IGPDecaux, Urban Vision and VG Pubblicità, the campaign is out of home in Milan, with maxi-billboard formats in Piazzale Lodi and special positions inside the Cadorna Metro.

But most of all, it has been published in newspapers just below the news of the debate about Italy’s anti-homophobia law between government and Vatican’s with a perfect media placement.

Stefano Morelli, a chief creative officer of Dentsu, says about the initiative: “We are very proud of this campaign because it testifies to the deepest and most authentic sense that Pride tries to teach us: the praise of diversity. Large companies that share the market attention daily now share the same space is a powerful signal. When individualisms are put aside, and small differences are cancelled out, unthinkable goals can really be achieved. In a common victory. A rainbow in which diversity is the key ingredient of a shared message. Because sometimes all it takes is a simple idea and the desire to share a space to send out a great signal”.

El Tiempo, one of the largest newspapers in the country, joins the month of the Struggle for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. An important moment to remember that without many characters of color, such as Michael Jordan, Muhammad Ali, or Jimi Hendrix, journalism would not have epic stories to tell and, therefore, great news.

Burger King: We know, we never thought we’d be saying this either. “Order from McDonald’s”

This is the surprising but united message that Burger King France decided to launch yesterday to show its support to the (fast or not) food service industry, highly impacted by the 2nd lockdown that has been established in France last week. A print that has been published in two of the biggest newspapers in France (L’Équipe and Le Journal du Dimanche) and posted on the brand’s social networks.

Pressbyran teamed up with Sweden´s leading newspaper, Expressen to focus on World Press…

Pressbyran teamed up with Sweden´s leading newspaper, Expressen to focus on World Press freedom day.

The Challenge:
For a dictator in a country with low literacy, a single picture can be a real threat, therefore every year, news photographers around the world are threatened, injured and killed in the line of work. It is a severe threat to the free press. It is also a threat to the photograph itself as a vital source for trustworthy, impartial and powerful news reporting.

The Solution
Sweden´s leading newspaper, Expressen, and the largest distributor of papers and magazines, Pressbyrån, joined forces on World Press freedom day in collaboration with the now world-famous photographers Nick Ut, Nilüfer Demir, Jeff Widener and Richard Drew.

The Result
On press freedom day, these ads were published in the newspaper to highlight the importance of having a photographer in place at the right time, or the rest of the world will never know what happened. In some sense, these pictures have changed the world and made a stand for the photographers and the photograph itself as a vital source for impartial and powerful news reporting.

Mathrubhumi Christmas Ad 2019

Every year, a huge amount of waste is generated around the holiday season, as people go on a gifting spree. The main culprit? Gift-wrapping paper. This year, Mathrubhumi decided to do something that would help people not only give their loved ones a gift, but give nature a gift as well.

Presenting the Mathrubhumi Christmas Special – a unique Christmas-themed supplement published on the Sunday before Christmas. The 4-page supplement goes beyond Christmas-themed news and incorporates a custom gift-wrap design on the inside pages. Once people were done reading the paper, they could simply flip it over and reuse it to wrap their Christmas gifts! With a simple innovation, Mathrubhumi is doing its bit to make this Christmas greener and merrier as well.

Samsung Galaxy S8 – The Newspaper Design Edition In order to make people…

Samsung Galaxy S8 – The Newspaper Design Edition

In order to make people of Switzerland realise that the new Galaxy S8 should be perceived as an iconic design marvel during its launch, it came up with an idea that made design the hero to gain traction in the iPhone dominated Swiss market. It launched the Samsung: The Newspaper Design Edition campaign.

We think that Samsung must have had two tasks in front of them to make the launch of Samsung Galaxy 8 a hit. First, it had to persuade citizens of a country to believe that Samsung’s design has changed. Second, it had to do that in a way such that their message reaches the citizens of Switzerland in a single stroke. Samsung decided to change the design of something that the 1.2 million people of Switzerland handle on a day-to-day basis. It’s 20 MINUTES, Switzerland’s most popular daily newspaper.

To mark the launch day of the brand new Galaxy S8, a brand new design was created and adapted to the largest Swiss daily newspaper. Many changes were done to the newspaper. For example, the type area was changed, the typography was new, a uniform concept was devised for photography, and new icons were designed for every section. Basically, everything was re-designed from the horoscope to the weather map. In the process, the design always focused on the Samsung Galaxy S8. The people of Switzerland were completely taken by surprise as you can see in the ad!

For the second consecutive year the pocket-sized multinational in communication is in the…

For the second consecutive year the pocket-sized multinational in communication is in the spotlight at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Casta Diva Group makes its presence known at the 2016 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity with a Silver Lion in the Print & Publishing- Media & Publications and a Bronze Lion in the Use of Ambient Outdoor category for “Flights”.

Produced by Casta Diva Buenos Aires for El Cronista Comercial (agency Grey Argentina, and directed by Marcelo Szechtman), “Flights” makes economics and the economy come alive for people who lack expertise in the subject.

El Cronista Comercial, Argentina’s principal financial newspaper, invited the followers of its new Facebook profile to an airport just outside Buenos Aires.
Here, El Cronista Comercial let the people enjoy an aerobatic flight at 15,000 feet that provided a metaphor for the highs and lows of interest rates, exchange rates and share prices, helping to make the unfolding of the 2001 Argentine financial crisis, the 2012 Greek default and the bursting of the dotcom bubble in 2000 all more comprehensible to the ‘newbies’ present.
The succession of aerobatics, designed to reflect real economic trends, also generated in the audience the same adrenalin that courses through the veins of those who work daily in the financial markets.

“Those are the 14th international award which Casta Diva Group has won since the beginning of the year,” declare Andrea De Micheli and Luca Oddo, the group’s
respective CEO and President. “Our international network, present in thirteen countries, allows us to achieve these results, thanks to the fact that we always put
at the disposal of our clients the best directors and the latest technology, taking our branded content to the highest levels of excellence.”
