Cheil Worldwide, in collaboration with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), is proud…

Cheil Worldwide, in collaboration with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA), is proud to unveil the groundbreaking ‘Knock Knock’ campaign. This visionary initiative aims to revolutionize emergency response systems by introducing an inclusive solution for individuals facing situations where verbal communication is impossible.

The ‘Knock Knock’ campaign, spearheaded by Cheil Worldwide and KNPA, shines a spotlight on the vital 112 police emergency call solution. This cutting-edge system empowers individuals who find themselves unable to communicate verbally to seek police assistance effortlessly. By simply tapping the handset, individuals can initiate a discreet request for police intervention.

This campaign holds immense significance in reaching out to concealed victims of domestic violence, particularly given the surge in unreported cases since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. As per the June release of the ‘White Paper on Public Safety to Protect the Socially Underprivileged’ by KNPA, reported instances of domestic violence in South Korea experienced a concerning 9% decline compared to the previous year. However, experts emphasize that this decline doesn’t correlate with a reduction in domestic violence incidents themselves. Instead, it is attributed to victims’ inability to make emergency calls due to their restricted movement within close proximity to the aggressor.

The innovative solution is elegantly simple: when someone unable to speak requires police assistance, they can dial 112. Once connected to a police operator, they can replicate a Morse code by pressing any number twice. This action prompts the police operator to send the caller a link. By clicking on this link, the police gain real-time access to the caller’s location and can even utilize the caller’s phone camera to visually assess the situation. Additionally, the solution features a discreet chat mode, resembling Google’s user-friendly search page, facilitating seamless communication between the caller and the police, all while minimizing exposure risks.

“We envision the ‘Knock Knock’ campaign fostering a sustainable and responsive 112 police emergency call system accessible to every citizen in distress,” asserts an official from the Korean National Police Agency.

The success of this initiative is underpinned by a close collaboration between KNPA and Cheil Worldwide, which incorporated invaluable insights from 112 situation room police officers and seamlessly integrated with KNPA’s existing 112 emergency call service. Spanning across digital, social, radio, and out-of-home platforms, the ‘Knock Knock’ campaign is poised to make a lasting impact. Moreover, the campaign encompasses comprehensive training for 112 police situation room agents across the nation, ensuring proficient and confidential handling of silent emergency calls.

In essence, Cheil Worldwide’s visionary ‘Knock Knock’ campaign marks a pivotal step towards enhanced public safety and inclusive emergency response mechanisms, ultimately transforming the way we safeguard those in need.
