Urban Company, a leading platform connecting customers with service professionals, continues to break…

Urban Company, a leading platform connecting customers with service professionals, continues to break barriers and challenge societal norms with its latest short film release, Chhoti Soch. This powerful narrative serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of respecting all forms of work, especially as the world gears up to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Unveiling the Story of Chhoti Soch

In “Chhoti Soch,” viewers are drawn into the life of a young massage therapist who faces ridicule and derogatory remarks from her neighbors, causing distress for her and her family. Despite the hurtful encounters, the protagonist bravely confronts the stigma surrounding her profession, ultimately leading to a heartwarming revelation where her family acknowledges and respects her work.

A Testament to Empowerment and Resilience

This film, akin to its predecessor “Chhota Kaam,” subtly delivers a powerful message that every occupation deserves dignity and honor. As the narrative unfolds, it highlights the resilience and strength of women, particularly in the face of societal prejudices. By portraying a female protagonist who asserts her dignity in her chosen profession, “Chhoti Soch” celebrates the empowerment of women and advocates for gender equality and inclusion.

Reflecting on Urban Company’s Past Challenges

While the release of “Chhoti Soch” has garnered praise for its impactful storytelling, it also prompts reflection on Urban Company’s past challenges. In June 2023, the company faced protests from beauticians who alleged unfair treatment, citing issues such as ID terminations and rating declines.

A Call for Consistency and Fairness

As viewers draw parallels between the film and the company’s past controversies, there’s a growing call for consistency and fairness in Urban Company’s treatment of its service professionals. While the film beautifully champions the dignity of labor, it also serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding these values within the organization itself.

Conclusion

“Chhoti Soch” stands as a testament to Urban Company’s commitment to challenging societal prejudices and championing the dignity of labor. As we celebrate International Women’s Day and reflect on the achievements of women worldwide, let us not only applaud the stories on screen but also strive for fairness and equality in every aspect of our lives, including the workplace.

This campaign is about:

Audi presents ‘Drive The Change’ on Women’s Day 2021 Stereotypes. Women, you have…

Audi presents ‘Drive The Change’ on Women’s Day 2021

Stereotypes. Women, you have heard them all.

“You drive pretty well for a woman.”
“Can your feet reach the accelerator?
“You might want to consider a smaller car?”
“Will you be able to change the tire on your own?”
“You’ll be more comfortable in the backseat.”

But, it’s time to steer away from stereotypes. Change the attitudes and take to the streets to #DriveTheChange to an equal future.

Audi India celebrated this Women’s Day with its #DriveTheChange initiative to drive over gender-related stereotypes. Audi India kicked off the initiative by inviting its fanbase to post some of the gender-related stereotypes they are tired of hearing. Having received over 100 responses, the brand took this initiative on-ground by inviting eight women for the campaign drive.

For International Women’s Day, IKEA wrote an open letter to Treccani – one…

For International Women’s Day, IKEA wrote an open letter to Treccani – one of Italy’s most important dictionaries – to analyze how the question “Can I help?” at home shifts housework responsibility exclusively to women.

IKEA has always tried to improve home life for all. Year after year, the brand studies people’s behaviors inside the home because it believes that the house is a mini-society that, together with others, forms a larger one: the one in which we live. From home, therefore, a fair society or one torn by inequalities can be born.

For this reason, to mark International Women’s Day 2021, IKEA and We Are Social Milan wanted to focus on gender inequalities and, in particular, on words and their importance. But instead of focusing on the words and phrases that explicitly contribute to discrimination against women, as they are more easily recognizable and, therefore, quickly condemned, IKEA wanted to turn the spotlight on one of the most used phrases in our homes when it comes to household chores: “Can I help?”

This expression is often addressed to women by men in the home, which may seem harmless, but in reality, hides a deeply misguided shared cultural attitude. Through the formula “Can I help?”, it is assumed that care and assistance work within the home is the sole responsibility of its female inhabitants.

To reflect on the use of the verb ‘help’ inside the home and fight gender inequalities, IKEA wanted to involve Treccani – one of the most important dictionaries in Italy – through an open letter on social media in which they asked linguists for an authoritative point of view on the subject. The in-depth response from Treccani promptly arrived within the day.

With this message, IKEA and Treccani demonstrate how language and everyday actions are essential in fighting gender inequalities, starting from the home.

X3M Ideas: History has been selective on the outstanding achievements of African women.
AcneStar Face Wash from the house of Mankind Pharma has come up with…

AcneStar Face Wash from the house of Mankind Pharma has come up with a campaign on this International Women’s Day, urging all of us to break the patriarchy. The campaign highlights the words such as Look good, great, presentable, attractive, impeccable and pleasing that are offently used for a woman that makes them under peer pressure throughout their day to day life.

AcneStar Women’s Day campaign showcases women from different walks of life to spread the message that a woman is supposed to do whatever she wants to & she will look beautiful more than ever. There are numerous stereotypes and roles that society has built around women. Rules and regulations that are engraved in our head without any proof. From how they are ‘supposed’ to look, what they are ‘supposed’ to do, where they are ‘supposed’ to work, and the list can go on.

Joy Chatterjee, General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Mankind Pharma, said, “On this International Women’s Day, we have spread the message of freedom for women and urge each one of us, not to dictate what a woman should do & how is she supposed to look like, she is perfect in her way”.

Pantene Malaysia marks Womens Day with Braids of Strength – a nationwide campaign that uses hair to help women stay in sports. #WANITABESI

Braids of Strength is the third and latest instalment of the WanitaBesi (which translates to ‘Iron Lady’) campaign, identifying sport as a key ingredient for the next generation of strong women. Through sports, girls learn important life skills such as teamwork, leadership and confidence. But globally, by the age of 14, Girls are dropping out of sports at twice the rate of Boys.

Launched with two films produced by Directors Think Tank, it tells the inspiring stories of two of Malaysia’s national athletes who when faced with extreme difficulty, still stayed in sport:

Farah Ann Abdul Hadi (National Gymnast Malaysia)
Who has suffered multiple injuries and an astonishing cyber-bullying backlash after winning double gold medals.

Who at eight months was the most heavily pregnant athlete to compete at the Olympic games.

Throughout both films, the tying of a hair braid is used to symbolise the strength to stay in sport, highlighting a unique partnership with Malaysia’s largest sports and fitness chain, Fitness First.

In celebration of World Women’s Day, customers who purchase any of Pantene’s range of shampoos will receive a golden ribbon and any woman wearing a braid during the month of March can gain Nationwide free access to Fitness First and Celebrity Fitness.

Further research commissioned by Pantene Malaysia revealed that, despite 87% of people believing that sports help build confidence, the perceived damage that heat and sweat cause to hair is a big barrier. This led to the team of researchers and scientists at Pantene to develop a uniquely engineered braiding technique to keep hair both strong and beautiful. The ‘Braid of Strength’ reduces friction by immobilising the hair strands, prevents tangling and reduces sweat.

Anggia Pulungan, Haircare Commercial Director of P&G Malaysia, said, “At Pantene, we are rooted in the belief that strong is beautiful. For a woman, her hair is both a personal and a public matter; it is a big part of her confidence. Through Braids of Strength, Pantene wants to encourage more women to embrace the #WANITABESI spirit, pursue any sport of their choice and eliminate their worry of self-image. By showcasing the perfect way to braid their hair, women get the confidence boost they need to look good, and it positively helps them to perform in sports.”

Catalyst Inc. is a global non-profit organization that works with some of the world’s elite and most influential CEOs and foremost companies to aid the transformation of workplaces to places that work for women. Their mission is to “accelerate progress for women through workplace inclusion.” And what better way to carry their noble mission ahead than by launching a Catalyst #BiasCorrect plug-in on International Women’s Day that corrects unconscious bias in workplaces.

Catalyst partnered with Burns Group agency to design a Slack plug-in that assists in weeding out unconscious bias words that take up everyday conversations intentionally or unintentionally. More often than not, the tendency to use words like pushy, bitchy, and aggressive while describing a woman has become a habit. What’s more alarming is that the users of such words don’t even know that they have this habit and how it is detrimental to the equality and gender-neutral ethics in workplaces. #BiasCorrect plug-in points out to the user when he types such negative bias words and recommends him or her more professional, positive, and gender-neutral words like ‘passionate’ instead of emotional and ‘assertive’ instead of aggressive.

We believe that this app will certainly do the needful to allay inequality in workplaces by helping people to choose sensible words. After all, words are strongly influential.

You will see powerful faces supporting this campaign like Hillary Clinton, Mita Mallick of Unilever who is the Head of Diversity there, and Tawana Murphy Bennett who is Facebook’s Global Lead.

As Women’s Day went by, we saw brands from all over the world…

As Women’s Day went by, we saw brands from all over the world come up with impactful and thought-provoking campaigns to show how women rule the world. Tanishq has always set milestones when it comes to groundbreaking, feminist campaigns and this 8th March, with their running campaign of #MySolitaires, they carried on with their legacy.

“My Solitaires” is the product range of solitaires by the jewellery giant, starting at the price of Rs. 54000. The new advert is another extension to their running campaign, under which Tanishq had released two ads last year. The current video ad showcases a woman, well in her late 40s, leaving her well-paying job of a Chairman to pursue her dreams of studying in a college.

Lowe Lintas, the agency behind the campaign, have shed light on women pursuing their dreams in a very heartwarming manner. The ad is empowering as it shows the protagonist dealing with issues like homesickness, motherhood, judgmental opinions and insecurity but still having a relentless attitude and not giving up on her dreams. The music in the advert is not solemn but is rather upbeat which, though contradicting, gives a light feeling to the issue. The narration of the lead is honest and she walks us through her struggle rather effortlessly.

The advert ends with the tagline, “Be The Woman You Wanted To Be” and leaves the viewer feeling hopeful and proud. We surely do hope that such campaigns are the firsts of many to come. On this occasion, let’s hope that we celebrate women every day, in any and every way we can.

Reebok India Tells the World Bruises Can Be Good, Through a Social Experiment…

Reebok India Tells the World Bruises Can Be Good, Through a Social Experiment
The campaign has been conceptualised and executed by Isobar India.

Isobar, the digital agency from Dentsu Aegis Network that handles the digital solutions for Reebok India, released a thought-provoking campaign – #BruisesCanBeGood on International Women’s Day. Launched with a social experiment, it makes a compelling statement on societal insights.

According to the National Family Health Survey (NHFS-4), every third woman in India, since the age of 15, has faced domestic violence of various forms. Making a strong assessment, #BruisesCanBeGood brings to light the harsh reality and the prevalent mind-set of the society by involving real audience. By highlighting the prevalence, the campaign aims to establish the need for self-defence education from a young age. Featuring a real combat artist as a protagonist, the social experiment further underlines the brand’s overarching communication for women – #FitToFight.

The mission of the campaign is to make self-defence classes a mandatory part of the curricula in schools and colleges. To achieve this, the brand has also written a petition on Change.org urging the Government of India to bring in the necessary reforms. To sign the petition, one can visit www.bruisescanbegood.com.

Watch The social experiment:

Speaking about the campaign, Silvia Tallon, Senior Marketing Director, Reebok India, said, “Our idea behind ‘Bruises Can Be Good’ was to showcase the skewed lens with which our society views bruises and women. The ingrained perceptions of bruises being violence inflicted, shadows the inner strength of the woman and allows us to undermine them. Since combat training is in our brand gene, Reebok honours these bruises as a mark of physical strength and mental toughness that can face any challenge. On International Women’s Day, we salute women who beat the odds and are “fit to fight” physically, mentally and socially.”

Commenting on the campaign, Gopa Kumar, Executive Vice President, Isobar India said, “‘Bruises Can Be Good’ is a powerful thought that focuses on how imperative it has become in today’s times to teach self-defence. For Women’s Day, we wanted to do a campaign that actually leads to a positive change and hence, the petition. The campaign is also in line with Reebok’s ‘Fit To Fight’ proposition and takes it forward beautifully.”

“A crime against a woman is committed every three minutes in India. We felt that just another story on Women’s Day is not what the nation needs; there is a desire to bring about substantial change and show the real picture, and this social experiment sets out to do that by highlighting how prevalent violence against women is. We hope that impactful moment of realisation will reach people from all walks of life; and I really urge people to sign the petition to make self-defence education mandatory for female students and show the world that #BruisesCanBeGood”, states Anish Varghese, National Creative Director, Isobar India.

On International Women’s Day, FCB Inferno, the agency behind Sport England’s ‘This Girl…

On International Women’s Day, FCB Inferno, the agency behind Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’, is launching Queen Rules – a new way to play cards, where Queen outranks King. This campaign is designed to get the conversation about gender equality on the table.

With support from Unibet, the campaign will launch with simultaneous live events and tournaments of Queen Rules poker on March 8th in London, Stockholm, Malta and more to be announced. A social experiment film, created in partnership with production company Archer’s Mark, will be released on the same day.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" src="https://campaignsoftheworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/How-A-Five-Year-Old-Toppled-A-King.jpg" alt="FCB Inferno | Queen Rules" width="1267" height="839" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-12909" title="A Deck of Cards Where the #QueenRules Supreme!
Competitors will be playing with limited edition cards that celebrate powerful women of all different shapes and sizes, drawn by sixteen unbelievably talented female illustrators from womenwhodraw.com, a website that champions female illustrators – especially those of colour, LBTQ+ and other minority groups.

All proceeds from the live events and merchandise, including T-shirts, art prints and playing cards, will be donated to HeForShe, a solidarity campaign for the advancement of women initiated by UN Women. We truly believe that play can be a powerful tool for change, and hope that with enough support for the campaign, we can help fight for a fairer world, one hand at a time.

The Queen Rules project started when a five-year-old girl questioned why King ranks higher than Queen in a deck of cards. This simple, yet powerful, idea is one way of sparking conversation around the unconscious gender bias that surrounds us – because sometimes the bias we don’t see, is as damaging as the bias we do.

The agency is challenging people everywhere to change how they think and play with the new rules. For examples of how to play, and which games work with Queen Rules, visit queenrulesproject.com or join the conversation with #QueenRules.

FCB Inferno’s CEO Frazer Gibney says: “It’s one small change, but one that we hope will have a big impact. If we can spark both debate and real behaviour change around unconscious and ingrained forms of gender inequality, then the campaign will have been a success.”

FCB Inferno’s CCO Owen Lee added: “This crushingly simple insight came from a five-year-old girl asking a simple question that we all struggle to answer. We are all guilty of unconscious bias and as a communications business we have a chance to do something about that. Queen Rules is a way of playing any number of card games that will change the way people think. So, the next time a little girl asks ‘Are Kings better than Queens?’, the answer will unequivocally be ‘No, it depends how you want to play the game.”

Nataly Sopacuaperu, Head of Events at Unibet says: “Unibet are proud to be involved in the Queen Rules project. It is a fantastic idea that highlights where in society we have gender bias. As a brand, our ambition is to make all of our Players feel understood, and challenging these kinds of stereotypes is one way to do this.”

Glenda Stone, Partnerships Director for International Women’s Day explains: “Challenging the status quo is an important part of the journey toward gender parity. This is what makes the Queen Rules project an exciting, innovative and powerful campaign for awareness raising. Questioning a familiar circumstance to provide an alternative is clever. Unibet and FCB Inferno are clearly innovating with impact when it comes to forging and making a #PressforProgress.”

Unibet
Unibet (part of the Kindred Group) is a premium all-product brand with a passion for online gambling, offering all types of Sports betting as well as Casino and Games, Poker and Bingo in 20 different languages across more than 100 countries.
DDB Berlin has created a breast cancer awareness campaign meant to be shared,…

DDB Berlin has created a breast cancer awareness campaign meant to be shared, and censored, on social media. Breaking Facebook and Instagram rules by exposing nipples for no apparent reason, the campaign is you sharing the picture on your social media, and your friends will soon see when it’s removed. It’s a pun, for sure, but quite a clever one as it uses the social media platforms algorithms for removing nudity as a point.

Pink Ribbon Germany wants to increase awareness for breast cancer, and to get more women to start checking their breasts regularly. Self-checking doesn’t prevent breast cancer, but it makes you more sensible to your own body, so that changes in your breasts can be detected earlier. When you notice anything unusual, talk to your gynecologist.

Facts about breast cancer:

Young women can also be affected.
Breast cancer concerns all women. In western countries, breast cancer is the most common and dangerous type of cancer. One in eight women will suffer from it during the course of their lives. Every year 70,000 new cases are reported in Germany alone. Younger women can be affected too. Spotting breast cancer early can play an essential role in the recovery process. Men of all ages can also get breast cancer, though it’s much less common.

Early detection puts the odds on your side.
Breast cancer is in most cases a highly curable disease if detected and treated early. When breast cancer is detected early, the five-year survival rate is 79 percent. The smaller the cancer tumor is when first detected the less likely it is to have spread, and therefore, it is generally easier to treat. Usually that also means that gentler therapeutic methods can be applied.

Why you should self-check regularly.
Most breast cancers are discovered when a woman suspects that something is wrong. That’s why it is important that you get to know your breasts and your body well. When you check your breasts regularly, you get a better understanding of what’s normal for you. Then, in case you would notice something unusual, go straight to your gynaecologist for a second opinion.

Now is the time to take action. Here is your breast self-check tutorial.

From gender equality to sexual consent, issues surrounding women are an extremely hot…

From gender equality to sexual consent, issues surrounding women are an extremely hot topic in the marketing world.

Here’s a selection of some of the more effective brand work we’ve seen released around International Women’s Day.

Microsoft #MakeWhatsNext (U.S.A.)

Microsoft’s Women’s Day effort – an online video titled “International Women’s Day 2016: What are you going to make?” – shows girls aged 7-15 struggling to cite examples of female inventors. Part of the brand’s “Make What’s Next” campaign, the spot was developed by m: united.

Brawny #StrengthHasNoGender (U.S.A.)

Brawny has swapped out its iconic “Brawny Man” in favour of four successful women, whose images will appear across the brand’s social media channels throughout March in honour of Women’s History Month. The social effort, anchored by #StrengthHasNoGender was created by the brand’s creative AOR, Cutwater.

Reebok #FitToFight (India)

Reebok India’s newly appointed brand ambassador Kangana Ranaut (dubbed the “queen of Bollywood”) delivers a message of encouragement, while urging women to shun stereotypes and carve out their own path. The ad is part of the brand’s global “Be More Human” campaign, developed in partnership with Venables Bell & Partners. #BeMoreHuman

ANZ #EqualFuture (Australia)

In an effort to highlight wage discrepancy, the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ) has launched a spot titled “#EqualFuture- Pocket Money.” The video features children doing chores, and when it’s time to get paid, the girls receive less than the boys. The ad, created by Whybin\TBWA, is part of a larger campaign which centers on the need for financial gender equality.

Website

Google – International Women’s Day Doodle 2016: #OneDayIWill (Global)

Over the years, Doodles have marked the achievements of women in science, civil rights, journalism, sports, arts, technology and beyond. But for their 2016 International Women’s Day Doodle, they wanted to celebrate the next generation of Doodle-worthy women—the engineers, educators, leaders, movers and shakers of tomorrow.

So they visited 13 cities around the world and asked 337 girls and women to complete the sentence “One Day I Will…” Then, they made this video.

From San Francisco, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, Lagos, Moscow, Cairo, Berlin, London, Paris, Jakarta, Bangkok, New Delhi and Tokyo, the women we met make up a diverse mosaic of personalities, ages and backgrounds. And their aspirations are just as varied—ranging from the global to the very personal, from discovering more digits of pi to becoming a mother to giving a voice to those who can’t speak.

They also asked some more familiar figures to participate, including anthropologist Jane Goodall—who wants to discuss the environment with the Pope—and Nobel Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai and activist Muzoon Almellehan, who are working fearlessly toward a future where every girl can go to school. Despite already impressive accomplishments under their belts, these women continue to dream big.
