ALS or Motor Neurone Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. This causes the victim to suffer various deteriorating effects within the body, one of it being a complete loss of voice. In other words, a person loses his or her ability to speak. That’s what happened to Pat Quinn(Canadian ice hockey player), the founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. But thanks to Project Revoice, he got his voice back. Project Revoice, we believe, is more than a campaign. It’s a mission, a non-profit one with a single-pointed aim – to make sure that anyone having ALS won’t have to lose his or her voice. The solution? Enabling those with ALS to get their voice back with the help of a breakthrough technology.

The voice will never go unheard
Lyrebird, a technology firm, helped Project Revoice to leverage the marvels of voice technology. Recreating the distinct (and absolutely natural) voice of a person is now possible by just employing a 2-hour high-quality audio clip of that person. The technology can build a complete digital voice clone matching to the person’s actual tone of voice. We believe it is a big step that can go a long way in helping those with ALS to never lose their right to speak. Also, it gives the entire ALS community to record and recreate their unique voice and use it whenever needed in the future with the help of Augmented or Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. ALS can therefore be stopped from robbing people of their unique voices.
