The Nobel Speech campaign by The Womanity Foundation

The womanity foundation, the nobel speech, campaigns of the world

The Nobel Speech – Using technology, The Womanity Foundation brought late female scientists back to life, turning them into Nobel laureates and enabling them to give their Nobel Prize acceptance speeches finally.

For decades, in the male-dominated field of science, many female scientists have had to witness their achievements being attributed to their male colleagues. They were leading to the women being snubbed by the corresponding Nobel Prizes. This erasure of their legacy and place in history was a slight that was never righted. Thanks to The Womanity Foundation’s latest initiative, This changes today: The Noble Speech.

In 1958, Dr Esther Lederberg was part of a team of scientists who pioneered the field of microbial genetics. Despite her substantial contributions to microbiology, the subsequent Nobel Prize was only awarded to her male counterpart.

Austrian physicist Lise Meitner led the team that discovered nuclear fission. Heralded by Albert Einstein as the Marie Curie of the German-speaking world, Lise Meitner was excluded from the Nobel Prize awarded in 1944 for the discovery. An omission she considered the most irredeemable sorrow of her life, depriving her of the chance to give the award’s acceptance speech. She died in 1968. Today, she finally has the opportunity to speak.
