Lifebuoy – Jump Pump
India’s mid-day meal scheme feeds millions of hungry school children every day. But eating with unclean hands spreads diseases like diarrhea. Children must wash their hands with soap before eating. Access to soap is easy. But, unfortunately, old & heavy hand-operated pumps are the only way to access water in rural schools. Young children find these pumps almost impossible to operate, thus staying away from washing hands. Our challenge was to make these hand-pumps easier to use. We decided to transform these hand-pumps into a fun activity. A specially crafted rocking horse was installed onto the handles of these hand pumps in schools — turning them into “Jump Pumps”.
Dettol – The Social Distancing Prayer Mat
To help keep Muslims praying in mosques safe from the spread of coronavirus, designers in Pakistan and the UAE have introduced an innovative modification in the ubiquitous personal prayer mat to encourage social distancing.
Traditional prayer mats – or the jaanemaz – are about 70cm wide and used in mosques where Muslims pray next to each other with their shoulders practically touching. To build social distancing, this newly designed prayer mat is 180cm wide with a message imprinted amongst its motif that reminds worshippers to maintain a safe distance.
The newly designed mat, printed on sustainable and cost-efficient non-tearable paper, has been used across Pakistan in some of its largest mosques.

‘Pocket Dentist,’ a mobile ring-back service providing dental care information access in rural India, received multiple honors at the India Digital Media Awards (IDMA). Launched by Colgate-Palmolive and Red Fuse Communications and backed by the Indian Dental Association, ‘Pocket Dentist detects multiple dialects and responds to the 30 most common oral health questions to address 91% of rural dwellers’ oral health problems. ‘Pocket Dentist’ is proof of Colgate’s commitment that a healthy smile is the right of every Indian.
