Written and performed by renowned poet Porsha Olayiwola “Praise Poem for the Rebellion” is a tribute to activists like Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera and Miss Major. These often forgotten BIPOC voices, present at the 1969 Stonewall Riots, were instrumental in fighting for LGBTQ rights at a time when there was no such thing. Today, we honor their contributions and we remember that Pride isn’t just a celebration: It’s a protest.
