IncluMojis | Celebrating the normalcy of people with down syndrome
Approximately 1 in every 1000 births exhibits an incidence of down syndrome. Owing to the lack of inclusiveness in our society, people with down syndrome are subjected to prejudices throughout their lifetime. However, as times are progressing, a new initiative called Inclumojis addresses the concern being talked about above. Inclumojis are a set of emojis representing people with down syndrome. This simple design project is accessible through major social media apps like WhatsApp, twitter, facebook, and Instagram. What’s even cooler is that the Inclumojis have been designed in consultation with people born with the condition.
As detailed in the digital promo designed by BriviaDEZ, this campaign lends a voice to people living with down syndrome. It creates a sense of inclusiveness for them that ultimately advocates the fact that people with down syndrome are also normal. Moreover, the emojis were strategically launched on July 17, World Emoji Day. The campaign gained traction at a rapid pace, and even a brand of the stature of Burger King joined the cause. Using Inclumojis is a fairly simple ordeal. All one needs to do is access the gif section of their smartphone keyboard, and search for the term, Inclumojis.
We feel that this campaign is a step towards a more inclusive society. In the era of digital marketing, such progressive campaigns prove how great of a tool social media is if used with the right intent.
